A kidnapping takes place

Previously the stronghold of the Pirate Lords, Almund is a thriving township with a dark side. With houses made from the wooden bodies of decommissioned ships, there are many opportunities here, coupled with many dangers. Dirty deeds, done dirt cheap!

A slight bruise began to form on the top of Akai’lai’s head as it kept hitting the dashboard repeatedly, harder and harder each time. He could do nothing but hold on to his master’s neck but not too hard, otherwise he would receive yet another blow to the face. Amos didn’t like that—he did not like when Akai’lai latched on to him because in a way, the Mer was reflecting what he felt back on to the man who in a way loved him so dearly. At least, that’s what he whispered each time he was on top of him. Akai’lai didn’t exactly think Amos loved him and if he did, the man sure had a weird way of showing it. Giselle—outside, we go. The mer’s words filled his master’s head with an almost nonchalant tone of voice, but that was only partially due to the fact that Akai’lai had swallowed his pain long ago.

Amos placed a finger on the mer’s lips as if the thoughts transmitted to his head had come from the mouth. “Shut yer fuckin’ mouth ya damn sea bass.” The pace of their body movement began to speed up a bit—faster and faster until finally there was a grinding halt. Amos seemed to have lost all control of his body as he rested himself on top of Akai’lai in a flailing motion. The Mer’s tiny body was now trapped underneath the body of a rather large man who he was too scared to wake up if he was even sleeping was even the case.”Go now ya damn shithole and weak excuse of a man. Take my daughter for a stroll and if anything happens, I’ll break ya fuckin’ teeth.” Turns out, he wasn’t sleep.

Amos rolled to the side of his bed to let Akai’lai up. The young man’s legs were a bit wobbly but otherwise, he could walk perfectly fine.

Akai’lai slipped on his clothes and stepped out the room, immediately greeted by his young master.

“Boo!” Giselle shouted as she latched on to Akai’lai, wrapping her little arms around his waist.

”Aye, little one! You nearly scared me to death!” He joked with her in rakahi, however, there was some truth to his words. The brief moment he had in bed with Amos had him a bit shaken up for some sort of reason and vulnerable to just about anything. Including loud noises.

“Sorry! Are you ready to go?”

”Of course.” He smiled at her before grabbing her nose and giving it a little tug. ”Remember to grab your things, okay?” Akai’lai took the young girl’s hand and began guiding her through the house to collect all of her things before finally exiting the house for a stroll.

It would be the first walk they had taken together in awhile. With Akai’lai having to mertamorphasis almost always and the girl’s terrible condition, the chances of them going for a stroll had always decreased as the arcs went on by. A shame too since both really loved to walk. Akai’lai enjoyed using his legs and doing what land-dwellers often do. It was a lot better than what he did in the tank, that’s for sure.

”Let’s race on three, ‘Kay? One—three, go!” Akai’lai shouted as he sprinted, almost leaving his companion in the dust. However, he would not go too far, looking back to make sure his child was always a step behind him.

۞ Deala had been enjoying the day as it were, finishing his work early in Darbyton, and deciding to venture to Almund to take a breather. There the vibrancy of the city and its people warmed him, a cup of good ale in hand he brought with him from Darby, sipping it down to savor its flavor as he enjoyed the scenery. Dealanaich wasn't one to worry about whether a place had a bad reputation or not. As long as those he interacted with were of a good heart and good company, he was content. Those having ale in his system, he was still ever vigilant in such a new surrounding. Crime was still a thing, even if one couldn't see it, and people were bold and crazy. He never knew if someone would want to try and
test themselves against a Lotharro, which it seemed was a rare thing in Scalvoris. He would notice the looks and stares he garnered due to his physiology, but never made anything of it. He rather enjoyed the looks he got. Once he finished his cup, he stood allowing the cup to hang onto his finger, and proceeded to stroll the streets. He found himself trying to figure out how long he would be in Scalvoris, debating on whether or not should make this place his home for the time being. It had him feeling like he could make a difference here. Lost in his own thoughts he continued on, not really paying much attention to his surroundings. ۞

Don’t break my teeth (Deala)

Perhaps it wasn’t the best idea for the Mer to go running. Granted, over the arcs he had learn how to walk like any normal human being yet when it came to running, there appeared to be a problem with his legs. Each long stride he took almost appeared to be an issue for him. It was like his legs could break any bit. But Akai’lai did not care. He was fully aware of his movement appearing almost unnatural. However, practice made perfect and he knew as long as he kept at it, his running would be perfected soon enough. He would walk and run even better than most snooty land-dwellers.

Akai’lai’s eyes were never aware of what lies ahead. He cared too much about Giselle’s safety to watch out for his own self. This far in the race, he had been lucky enough to not even bump into someone. People moved out of their way with ease and it could of been partial to his little master’s status. Giselle’s status could be considered similar to that of a princess...if the princess were related to a drug dealing psychopath named Amos. The locals knew the daughter of Akai’lai’s owner all too well and the consequences of messing with her. Even with the darker side of Scalvoris’ reputation it has been come almost safe haven for the drug dealer’s daughter. Amos’s threat about keeping his daughter safe never really felt like a threat.

Anyway, locals knew to stay out the way but visitors were a different story. Akai’lai’s pathway would not be clear for too long. Sooner or later, he would run into the big and broad Lotharro he had spotted just a few trills ago. Expecting him to move in a similar fashion as everyone else, Akai’lai paid the man no mind at all.

”Stay close be—oof!” Akai’lai slammed himself against the lotharro’s chest, his little companion following closely behind creating a domino effect. The two fell on their backs in shock, eyes slowly sizing the rather large man up from head to toe. The Lotharro was a very big and muscular man with a complexion similar to the Mer’s own. Akai’lai took note of his handsome face and most importantly, how intimidating it looked. The poor Mer didn’t know whether he should apologize or run.

Apology. He communicated with the man telepathically at first as he raised himself and the child off the ground. Akai’lai hesitated in an almost crouching position; wincing as if the man were going to hit him. ”It was never my intention, I’m sorry sir.” He spoke to him in rakahi since it was the only language he knew so well.

۞ Deep within his own thoughts he wasnt aware of what was going on. Soon though he noticed as the pedestrians on the street seem to be parting out of the way long the road. Stopping he was trying to wrap his head around what was going on, then he a felt a thud as two bodies collided into his frame. He was unaffected, but he couldnt say the same for the other two. Seeing one as a little girl he immediately went to her aid, lifting her into his arms, checking to make sure she was ok. Looking to the male that was with her, it seemed he was speaking some language Deala honestly was unfamiliar with. But he did hear the word apology in his head. Putting two and two together, he waved the man's frantic apology away. No need to apologize, I should have been paying attention is all. Not everyday you run smack dab into a Lotharro ya know. Its like running into a stone wall. We are densely built beings it seems. He explained, chuckling as he handed the little one over to her caretaker. My name is Dealnaich, and you two are? He inquired, holding out a hand for the young man to shake. The more he looked at the young man the more he noticed certain things about him. He had bruises along the parts of his body not covered by clothing. He panicked, almost cowering in the sight o f Deala, which could only denote one thing. This young man was a slave, Deala being able to piece this together from seeing how badly slaves were treated before being freed in his home. His eyes narrowed and cut to the little girl. There was no way she was the slave owner, must be the owner's child. His interest was peaked by this, he needed to know more, but with the language barrier, it could be difficult. ۞
