They were beginning to suspect that there would be no end to their discomfort during this game. For one, the mixed blood couldn't quite get comfortable in their seat. Drawing into themselves had not seemed to be the best option and - they'd been caught staring. Or they felt like they had been. Not only was it rude to stare in the first place, they'd uttered no apology. Their manners were deteriorating quite a bit, as it were. Keeping their eyes on their hands was also proving to be a difficult task, gaze flickering up to Patrick and Maxine respectively.

They hoped the widening of their eyes would go unnoticed as Patrick announced what his dare would be for Maxine. The mixed blood had said that they should be considerate of crossing certain lines - and this most certainly did. Lips parted and words ready, they paused. None of the others seemed at all peeved by this dare. And they hadn't explicitly stated that there should be consideration for all players. Maxine could easily pass - and they thought for a moment that she had when she'd downed her shot - but they would not be so lucky.

Amaris had come to understand that this game would not be going in any way that they might imagine. Swallowing thickly, they dropped their gaze once more as Maxine acted upon the dare given to her. They tried - and failed - to ignore the words spoken. Suddenly everything else was much more interesting. The ends of their hair held their interest for a moment. They were due for a cut soon; perhaps they would use a visit home as an excuse to get their mother to do it and save some money. It would be nice to see their mother again - they had quite a bit to tell her. They could discuss Viden things with their father while they were at it. And they could ask more about...other things if they felt so inclined to do so.

Their title was soon called and they looked up slowly. Dread seeped into them with the realization that it was now their turn. The mixed blood already had some idea of what they would choose. The truth might be a bit easier to do than a dare, and if Patrick's dare was anything to go by, they were definitely not of the mind to choose that. The others might find them boring in contrast, but they would not make themselves uncomfortable any further.

As if trying to conjure up some courage, they sat up a touch straighter. Their hands were pressed flat on the table now, gaze flickering between their three companions (though lingering a trill longer on Patrick and Maxine). "Truth, please."

At Patrick's dare for Maxine, Rayso actually looked surprised. The Immortal had expected him to play it safer than that, honestly, but after she recovered, she smiled at his daring. "Perhaps you haven't gotten as boring as I first thought." she purred, before smiling as Maxine stood up and came around the table. When Maxine started to play up her dare, Rayso let out an amused chuckle. When the bite finally came, she even let out a quiet purr of pleasure. "Oh, it was very good, my dear." she said, evidently pleased. When Maxine sat down thought, she'd notice that Rayso was giving Maxine a look of no small interest, as if she expected something to happen.

When nothing immediate happened, however, she seemed to shrug it off and turned to watch Councilor Amaris accept the challenge that had been given to them. When they chose Truth, Rayso was disappointed, but she couldn't but admit that she had expected it. Between her gift, the dare Patrick had given Maxine, and Maxine's enthusiastic response, the apparently reserved Councilor must feel wildly out of her depth. Of course, Syroa figured Maxine could make Truth an interesting game, and she simply watched Amaris with a half-smile. It was fun watching her be uncomfortable, and her own amusement and enjoyment was Syroa's highest goal, after all.

Patrick's gaze was more so focused on Maxine and Syroa first and foremost, although he did spare Amaris a glance or two beforehand. Not so surprisingly she didn't seem to approve of his dare, as indeed Patrick had gone well beyond the rules set in place just for personal pleasure. What this was had to be nothing more than a serious if not petty revenge fantasy, one that Maxine was sadly now the instrument of since he lacked the pleasure of doing it himself. He watched intensely with eyes on his fellow drinker when she first took a drink, only to rise from her chair to approach the Immortal in disguise.

Holy shit! She was gonna do it! Wait of course she would! This lady had no idea just who she was biting into, and quite honestly that made this even more perfect for him. "Yep." He answered when she reiterated at the biting fetish, his lips turned into a devious smirk as he held his drink close. When he watched her tease before sinking her teeth exquisitely into the Immortal's flesh, Patrick couldn't help but bite his lower lip as he admired her brave tenacity. This girl... had almost no limitations in terms of fear, and somehow he wondered if Maxine actually did know; would she have still bit the Immortal the way she did anyways?

Syroa certainly appeared amused with his stunt and he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows, his shit eating grin plastered widely over his cheeks as he nodded at the bitch. "Stings like a bitch but you like it anyways." He figured in silence as he watched the human lift her head away, with the faint traces of blood upon her lips. Daaaaaamn! She really tore into her! Somehow Patrick felt more than pleased over what he just watched, truthfully it sort of sparked a little arousal none of the three would know about. Somehow Syroa seemed to stare intently at Maxine now, expecting something to occur afterwards.

Wait... Had Patrick made a grave mistake in doing that? He hoped not. While his amusement slightly diminished at the thought, Patrick's delight had yet to perish now that it was Maxine's turn. She picked Amaris to be her victim and ultimately the council lady played it safe, choosing truth as Patrick had done shortly after Syroa dropped in unannounced. Quietly the Rharnian watched with his bottle tilted in a cheers for both, Maxine who pulled through like a champion with his dare, and Amaris who would nonetheless make the night much more interesting after a few more drinks. Pat then took a nice swig from his bottle, lips upturned again as he enjoyed the sweetened taste of rum.

OOC Note: As of Ashan 717 Patrick has been cursed with Sesser, therefore once a season he's at risk of turning into a Sessfiend. Should the occassion actually come to occur, PC's are warned to consider the extreme risk of injury and even their life; before proceeding to participate in the event. Looking forward to the potential plots and threads to come!

Sitting in her seat, Maxine was only vaguely aware of the consequences of her audacity. Patrick seemed smug in his successful manipulation tactic. Amaris, she imagined, was probably (and predictably) disappointed in the violence of the public affair. Rayso was the only one at the table whose reaction she had a hard time pinning down. The woman's words and gestures had made it seem like the bite had been a welcomed one after all. It was entirely possible that there was truth to Patrick's story after all when it came to a fetish. It was the way Rayso stared at Maxine afterward that put a crease in her brow. There was a kind of knowing in the woman's stare, as if she could see a foreshadowing that the Rusalka could not. The deliberate nature of he expectant gaze briefly filled Max with an intuitive anxiety. Before long the stranger's gaze broke in search of something of more interest. Max shook the nuance off to focus back on her own target.

The Councilor of Natural Affairs straightened their spine as though summoning courage for their participation in the harmless game. No longer did their gaze focus intently down at their hands and away from the others in their midst. Their bright eyes jumped about from one face to the next. They seemed to be thinking carefully, weighing the odds of this potentially world-ending choice: truth or dare.

For a trill the Mixed Race coaxed herself into a false hope that Amaris might choose dare. It was a ridiculous fantasy, and one she honestly knew wasn't likely to come to fruition. Not this time anyways. Patrick's dare had set a dangerous tone. Rayso's compliance only pushed what any sane person might've thought to be the limit. Literal blood had been drawn. Maxine's thumb wiped casually along her bottom lip, gathering the smudges of crimson that remained before suckling it absently off her thumb tip.

Truth. Of course you choose truth.

Rather than display the disappointment on her face, Maxine leaned forward with a look of perplexity. Amaris had elected to play it safe. What the poor politician didn't know was that there was never really a safe choice when it came to playing any game with Maxine. There was only the illusion of it. Her caramel eyes studied the tall individual for a half bit. She didn't know much about their personal life. All she knew was that they were on the Council, didn't seem like much of a drinker, and apparently had a soft spot for crows. Amaris was the pinnacle of purity and ethics. The desire to do and be good practically radiated from the gentle giant. No one could be that good. No one could exist without flaws of character. Maybe that was Maxine's own desire to believe that everyone, on some level, was as twisted inside as she was. Or maybe it was the alcohol. In any case, she wanted to prove her skepticism to have merit.

"Alright then," Maxine finally said, sitting back in her seat. Her eyes glanced from Patrick to Rayso, then rested firmly on her victim. "Tell me true, Councilor." She folded her arms across her torso and raised a challenging brow. "What's the very worst thing you've ever done?"

Had they been asked this perhaps two arcs ago, the councilor might have had vastly different from the one they had now. Had this been asked those two arcs before, they might have flushed, head bowed and confessed that they had once left snacks in the pockets of their twin so that he would be harassed quite thoroughly by flunny. Or perhaps having him pushed him into the artificial line created by their father to signal the start of Oh-Deer territory - by accident, of course. But this was not two arcs ago and they had more than moments in their childhood. And it wasn't like they wouldn't admit to these things. It was just a lot harder to say these things aloud, be they to people trusted or otherwise.

Their expression had taken on a dismal look, whatever light left in them fleeing for the moment. They had - they had options. They could choose a number of things. They could say they'd gotten a man killed a whole arc ago and that they'd spent the anniversary of the trial wallowing in their own self-hatred. They could say they let a murderer loose after watching him use a victim as a prop for demonstration of skills the mixed blood was already acquainted with. That one seemed like the worst. The one the group would least expect.

But how would they react? Would they care? Would they turn Amaris in without a second thought? While they had reported the latter situation to the elements, they doubted that every single person to hear the story would pity them or take their side. They doubted a lot of things about what happened - sometimes wondering if it had even happened to begin with. And then they'd look over and see the blood pool on the floorboards all over again and think that - no, it had not been a dream. And if it was, it was a never-ending nightmare.

They didn't say any of this, though, taking a deep breath. Maybe dare would have been better. They almost agreed with the voice in their mind on that. But - they'd already seen what Patrick had chosen for Max to do. Following that vein of thought, the dare Max might have concocted would be worse if not just as bad. Lips pursed, they debated for a moment on the possibility of backing out of the truth. They could easily take one of the filled glasses on the table, but that was...that was a form of running away.

Oh, but you're good at that. But, oh, how they wished not to be. Instead, they stared Max down for a trill before balking and looking down at their hands once more. "I have...gotten two people killed." No, that wasn't quite right. "I killed them." That's better. Get ready for the cuffs. “Ms. Rayso, truth or dare?”

Syroa smirked at Patrick's reaction to her enjoyment of the bite. "Giving or receiving, it can be fun either way, if the partner is right." she purred, before looking at Maxine. Patrick, of course, was more fitting to be on the receiving end when playing with Syroa, but the Immortal was developing more and more interesting the Rusalkis. Her cousin always did pick the most fun toys, after all, and this one was no different. She could feel the chaos surrounding her. The girl had a great capacity for both good and ill, but no matter what she chose, it would always, always be brought by chaos and tempest. Syroa could appreciate that, she was no different herself, save that she frequently chose to do ill because she found it more fun.

When the Rusalkis gave Amaris her challenge, Syroa's gaze turned to the councilor with a sly smirk, knowing that this wouldn't be an easy question to answer. The councilor clearly didn't want to answer, but when she did, the Immortal grinned. Perhaps the stoic councilor was more interesting than she had first appeared. "My, I wouldn't have thought you to have such a darker side. It is refreshing to see a politician willing to get their hands dirty directly though." she said, her tone utterly nonchalant. She doubted it was some political maneuver, honestly, but it was fun to tease Amaris.

When it was her turn though, she brightened and smiled at Amaris. "Oh, darling, do you have to ask? I chose dare, and do make it good." she said, her tone a low, seductive purr. Truth be told, she doubted that Amaris would come up with something that would be all that interesting, but she had been surprised before. Though, to be fair, there was also very, very little that she could be dared to do that she wouldn't do.

Patrick watched with intrigue at how the next turn would unfold, admittedly he felt a little more relaxed somehow. Maybe in his element too even, since he'd had plenty of booze to enjoy the game with. Rayso's timely drop within the game might have thrown him off earlier, but now he possessed a bit more confidence in her midst somehow. He also respected the attitude Maxine possessed, and how she could exceed expectations in her own brilliant way. Granted most probably didn't handle the kind of attitude she possessed very well, Patrick was one that felt he'd get along quite easily with her in truth.

When Amaris was faced with a question for truth Patrick watched curiously, intrigued with how she seemed to withdraw in her own personal domain for a moment. He didn't picture anything this woman could say being that bad, since she was clearly a uptight individual from the way she projected herself. But what left her mouth changed things a little. There could be no judgement from Patrick as he'd by far done worse, but hadn't expected to hear this woman admit it aloud. Bravery lived inside her too apparently. She'd killed two people? Was this in relation to that event at the docks Faith told him of? Surely she couldn't have, not intentionally or so he wanted to consider the possibility.

But Amaris seemed caught up in her confession, ready to break under the pressure of judgement from those gathered there. Syroa complimented on that aspect about her, and Patrick's curious gaze lessened to a slight frown after what he'd heard. "What a fekkin' bitch." He swore quietly although he wanted to say it aloud so bad, granted he understood the gravity of regret the councilwoman had to feel. Here she was admitting she'd killed one or two guys.... while Patrick had killed well over a dozen if not more. Not that he wanted to either, but then again who did wish to kill others for fun or sport? Certainly none gathered here, save for Syroa since she clearly got off on that kind of shit.

He wanted to speak out for Amaris, let her know she needn't feel such guilt. Even then he'd be a hypocrite for trying, since deep down he still carried his own. But with Syroa here it'd only show her that he possessed vulnerability, something he learned he couldn't have as a Sessfiend. Isolation had partially created a hellish nightmare, and the monster living within it became none other than Patrick himself. Nevertheless he considered this game of truth and dare somewhat of an unusual opportunity, and suddenly he had hopes he'd find himself in the position to dare another once more. But first Syroa was challenged, ready to go with a dare as she purred almost in seductive delight. Again the monster within him almost felt like purring as well, as though the beast was pleased to be close with it's master yet again.

Patrick had to clear his throat before he took another swig from his bottle, his legs brought up so his feet rested on the edge of the table; while he leaned back in his chair casually. What oh what could Amaris dare Syroa to do at this rate? He hoped it'd be something good, something that'd shame her somehow; even though that didn't seem very likely knowing the Immortal Temptress.

Judging by Amaris's expression, the truth Maxine demanded from them was not a pleasant one. It wasn't designed to be. It was invasive like a scalpel in an autopsy, peeling back the layers that hid the gruesome evidence beneath it. Rarely was the Rusalka one for the meticulous working of picking one's brain. The process was often tedious and required more mental effort and patience than her restless personality could bear. Still, like a clockmaker's apprentice, she still reveled in discovering just what it was that made her acquaintances tick. Max lacked the grace to make the endeavor a relatively painless one. In all things, she went for the jugular.

Maxine studied the Councilor as they hesitated in their response. Their eyes met, and a gravity weighed upon the table in a way that kept the Rusalka from adverting their gaze. The stare didn't last long. Their eyes cast back down to their hands. Then the truth came out.

Killed? Two people?

The Rusalka's brow rose in visible surprise. She felt her spine hit the back of the chair, lips parting subtly in light of the revelation. Then her eyes narrowed, her expression of shock dissolving quickly into one of both suspicion and appreciation. So she'd been wrong about Amaris. The goody-goody Councilor of Natural Affairs was no pure light shining through the dark of Scalvoris. They were just as flawed, just as dirty as the rest of them. Maxine found herself in disbelief over the thought of Amaris actually killing someone.

It was more so the way they said their truth that filled her with doubt. They'd started with the story that they'd "gotten two people killed", and in the mind of someone who had personally slain a greater number than that, there was a stark difference to be made between some culpability and downright homicide. Maxine leaned greatly toward the belief that Amaris was guilty of the former. That didn't mean she was prepared or willing to provide any sort of comfort over the weight of such feelings of responsibility. She wouldn't even begin to know how.

Rayso's delight in the coming of her turn redirected Maxine's attention to the game at hand. A devilish grin returned to her dark features. So far the stranger had proven to be a more than welcomed addition to their table. She'd certainly kept them all on their toes and things plenty interesting. Something told Maxine that more fun was yet to come with this wildcard of a woman. She'd happily let the uncertainty of that chaos come. With a gleeful glance toward Patrick, she too made a move for more alcohol. What an interesting night this was turning out to be indeed.
