Development Submissions
The Idea
There are rarely very few bad ideas when it comes to Development. If you have an idea to create something, whether it be a location, a creature or plant, a folklore or tradition, an NPC or a shiny new item, really anything that comes to mind, submit it here. I will also keep my own wish list of things I'd like to see created (both by myself and others) to function as sort of a To-Do List.
The Rules
  1. All images submitted must be hosted in the site's Gallery.
  2. The following types of images must include a 300x300 (exact) for addition to the Wiki. This can be in addition to a full sized image. - Alcohol, Drugs, Elixirs and Potions, Fauna, Flora, Illnesses and Diseases, Mounts, Medicine, Raw Materials, Poisons, and Reagents, and NPCs.
  3. Location images must be 650 width, height is variable, but please keep it reasonable.
  4. Locations - I am trying out something a little different in Yaralon. I will only be approving large/massively important locations (Temples, Docks, Military locations, monuments, etc). I do not wish to have a handful of small shops and taverns and such things in my created locations. This is because in a city of this size there won't simply be 1 sword shop to buy from. There will be several. So, I'm giving players the ability to conjure them up out of thin air and use them, so long as they maintain the theme of the city. If you want a tavern with a focus on food, fine, use it. If you want a shop to buy that dog you want, it is there somewhere. Now, that sounds like an inconsistency, chaos, all these locations coming and going, but that is intentional. I'm allowing for more creative freedom in your thread this way while also supporting the idea that many businesses are created and fail within the highly competitive city.
  5. Locations - The exception to the above rule is PC run locations. Does your PC own a shop for making shields? I will 100% add that to the link map. Player locations are a wonderful thing and I hope to see lots of them.
  6. Once the development submission is approved by me, I'll create its own dedicated thread in this forum. These dedicated threads are for recording updates, for players and staff to ask questions, and for players to link the usage of the article in an IC thread. As such, if a question is asked about a piece of yours, I will PM you, asking that you answer it, if it cannot be answered by what is written. If the question is not answered within 1 week, I will answer it myself and that will be the information that stays with the article.
  7. Use the provided templates below (coming soon)

Vivvachi
Name:Vivvachi
Fauna Type: Fauna
Mod Status: Self Mod
Quick Facts: Powerful kick, extremely fast, strobing lights in spikes, this mount is known for its speed and incredible jumping capabilities. Capable of jumping across large gaps in land with little to no problem, makes these creatures almost as good as having a flying mount.
Height: 5-8ft
Width: 2-3ft
Length:
Weight: 250-350lbs
Meta-Location Found: Fools Run

History: Check Yaralon Story Lore: The Vivvachi Tamer and Yaralon Musical Instrument: Keyvin'ya

Appearance: The Vivvachi are a strange kangaroo like creature, mixed with what seems to be cheetah and gazelle. Common colors to find them in are a combination of Cream, Tan, Cocoa, and Black. Some rarer combinations are 4 tones of BlueGrey, or tones of deep reds.

Habitat: This creature does it's best in open land. There's nothing that can keep it locked up really unless it's inside a building, even then if it's uncomfortable it may start destroying things. The best thing to do with this creature is to take it out often, let it run full tilt, and then let it rest in the sun. During the Wet Season, Vivvachi seem do little to change their habits and in fact from a distance might look like they're playing in the water.

Lifespan and Development: Vivvachi females are able to give birth once an arc. Mating season is typically in Zi'da, and they give birth around Ashan or Ymiden. The typically have 1 or 2 joeys (Baby Vivvachi's) each birth cycle. They raise their young until next mating season, and push them off into the wild on their own.

Vivvachi's are sexually mature at 4, and typically aren't big enough to ride until about that time. During mating season, it is seen that there is a decline in males in the species, as they fight each other to get the attention to get the female, sometimes leading to fatalities. It's not major enough to endanger the species though.

They are able to mate until around the age of 30-40 arcs and if lucky to not be eaten or killed by something bigger can live up to 70 arcs. They will, if they think they are going to die of old age, will find an opponent they think worthy to finish them off. A warrior's death.

Diet: These creatures are Omnivores, they eat grass's and meat. They will eat meats more often as they can go longer without having to worry about keeping their stomach full.

Temperament: This creature, in the wild, is not friendly at all, it will kill anything that it wants as food, and fight most anything that it feels threatened by. Though sometimes they will just use their Flash Spines to get away if what they are threatened by is something they don't think they can beat. If you gain a Vivvachi's trust, expect to be guarded closely. Due to this, even buying a train Vivvachi can be dangerous.

Trainable, but difficult to train. A trainer must have a firm but kind hand, reward when something is done right, discipline when something is done wrong. There is a special whistle that can be made out of wood that can assist with training. It is a whistle that makes a specific sound, much like the screech of a Warqag that scares them into freezing up for about 2 bits. It doesn't really harm the creatures but it creates distrust between the trainer and the Vivvachi. So not always the best tool to use, and often is used by inexperienced trainers.

More experienced trainers will tell you, if you have more than one Vivvachi to train, make sure that you've got multiple trainers, at least one male and one female should be training at a time. And it can sometimes help if you train Vivvachi together. Have a more experience Vivvachi show the less experienced Vivvachi how to do something (Especially if you're breeding them and are raising them from infancy).

The reason why these creatures are hard to tame is just that they are typically violent when hungry. They see humanoids as prey and aren't afraid to hunt for what they want to eat. If you present them with food though and slowly work your way up to earning their trust to get closer to them bit by bit until they start to let you touch them it can help.

It's also said that there's a tamer in Yaralon that actually uses some kind of musical instrument that allows them to command the beasts.

Abilities: Retractable Claws: Simple as can be, these creatures have claws on both their front and back paws that can retract and cause major damage if used against an enemy. Often used to help shred their prey.

Powerful Kick:Due to their large hind legs being capable of jumping over some of the largest canyons in Idalos, you can expect their kicks to pack a punch. Depending on a few factors, even one kick from these creatures can be fatal, capable of causing broken bones and internal bleeding.

Bounding Getaway:As they are known for their speed, they are able to jump and dodge, speeding away from any problem they might run into.

Flash Spines: These creatures have along their spine, spikes or spines that are flap like, able to open and close. Specialized saddles allow these flaps to open and close with ease. These spines are effectively blinding strobe lights, allowing them to blind their predators and prey as a distraction. The strobes in each flap last for about 2-3 bits, and each flap can be used seperately. There's typically 5 or 6 useable flaps on their backs so they are to be used wisely if a rider orders the use of them.

Pack Mount: These mounts are meant for speed, but they are quite strong, so if you're not worried about speed, they can be trained as pack mounts, though it's not really advised. These creatures can hold about 400-550lbs(depending on their size) and still go at a decent pace, any more than that and you're asking for trouble. Especially in Yaralon.

Additional Information: Warqag's are one of the few predators that Vivvachi will automatically start running from.

Purchasing Information:
You want to think ahead and think hard before buying a Vivvachi. If you are a male, buy a female Vivvachi, and vice versa if you are a female, buy a male Vivvachi. This increases your chances to bond with your purchase. Though this isn't common knowledge (as traders of this creature want to keep prices as they are for the creature), if it's untrained, the better for you, but the more difficult your life will be while you try to train it. If you buy one trained, expect to have a harder time of getting it to trust you, it's already bonded with one trainer, it's going to be hard for it to bond with a new one.

1) A Length (nose to tip of tail) needs included.
2) Will you be fleshing out history/cultural impact in the bits on the song and such?

Locations: Yaralon

Appearance: (Be specific)

Habitat: (Where do they live, what conditions do they prefer? What parts of the world have the spread out to?)

Lifespan and Development: (Birth, development and death)

Diet: (What do they eat? Where do they find it? How often? Etc)

Temperament: Volatile and extremely territorial

Abilities:

Spores:
These spores are released from a Zungaiv's body in it's dying breaths. Breathing in these spores in small amounts will not kill you though can make you quite sick 4-5 trials after breathing them in, the illness lasting up to 10 trials if not treated. However, as you often won't find Zungaiv far from each other, breath in too much of the spores and not only will the illness start showing faster, but it will last a lot longer, hurt a lot more and in more severe cases if not treated, will kill.
