Nalin tells Enrick the bad news.

Almund is a thriving township with a dark side. With houses made from the wooden bodies of decommissioned ships, there are many opportunities here, coupled with many dangers.

Nalin just sat there watching as more and more realizations seemed to flow into Enrick's mind, practically blowing that same mind out of the water so to speak. Enrick seemed to not be able to process for a moment what Nalin had meant by a lot of what he'd said. Nalin didn't even flinch when Enrick realized that he was actually sleeping with his sister. Though a look of confusion did slip onto his face. Was that really that big of a deal? It was pretty normal back in Havardr. At least with his family's line. Which was the reason why he had to live with the curse of the the Ink Bloom in the first place.

He blinked a moment as he looked over Enrick's features, nodding in agreement, pretty much knowing what his question meant. It was obviously a shock, considering he walked to the other side of his boat to try and collect himself.

"Maybe... not normal round here? But... very normal for siblings and cousins to marry in Havardr. At least.. with our lines?"

Nalin said it quite matter-of-fact, as if he didn't really know anything else. He didn't think it was weird to be with his sister. Though it was clear that Father/Daughter relations were still not part of the norm. Nalin balled his hands into fists in his lap.

"I.... Thought you knew? All this time... I assume too much. I sorry Enrick.."

He took a slow and deep breath before looking up and slowly breathing out.

"But.. both agree that what Tarrith want is bad yes? Man not right in head. Must be avoided and stopped all costs... Will you... help hide her?"

He looked to Lavender, she was crying, sobbing even at this point, though her sobs were just choking and hiccuping noises, no tone to them at all. Nalin smiled softly at her as he caught her eye. Her cheeks redden as his hand moves up to her cheek and he wiped a few of her tears away slowly, tenderly, and with a lot of care.

Enrick just stared hard at the waters outside the harbor and thought hard, mainly over the fact he'd been so ignorant this entire time. He could've pieced the puzzle on his own had he just tried to do so, but no matter how many times he saw the questionable moments; he never once bothered as it was not his place to consider it. What they did was their business in his accordance, and while he definitely didn't intend to make any connections earlier; he certainly remembered just why exactly he deemed it not his business afterwards. Because moments like now where he would be uncomfortable, unsure of how to reciprocate the facts for what they were at a time such as now.

Nalin stated that it seemed as normal as anything else where he was from, something that Enrick didn't think to consider at first. Was that sort of thing normal? He had no immediate family to think of in such a way, no possible means of placing himself in the other man's shoes. How could he understand that to be normal, when Enrick himself wasn't sure what normal was for anybody else? "It's... Definitely not what Oi'm accustomed t' really." The fisherman admitted with a hard swallow, a full stand on his feet made as he no longer leaned onto the rail of his sloop. He took a hard gulp and breathed out slow and strong, with a turn around to face the couple once more as his eyes were orange. He softly shook his head when Nalin mentioned how he figured Enrick knew, his hands rested at his hips as he couldn't help but slightly grimace.

"Don't... Don't worry bout it mate. Oi'm not one t' judge yer..." His way of life? His ability to be intimately involved with his sister? It was so damn hard to swallow for some reason, probably because Enrick never would've considered himself one capable of such a thing. Again what did he know though. He was an only child orphaned after his father left him, leaving Enrick with nothing to consider in regards to family. "Oi'm not judgin' nothin' is all." He admitted with a look down from Nalin to the deck, his eyes more hazel now as the orange slowly panned out. No matter how difficult it was to accept what he had just learned, at the end of the Trial it was still business that existed between Nalin and Lavender. The rest which still needed to be figured out came next, which Enrick could easily agree was bad if you considered the nature of things.

"Aye," he agreed with a nod as he looked at Nalin, "Tarrith does sound like bad news... certainly not a person Oi'd want roamin' 'round." He bit his lower lip a little considerably, still rather uncomfortable with what was being asked of him. Hide Lavender? If that's all he wanted then sure, Enrick could manage this he suppose. It wasn't hard when one knew how to navigate the waters around Scalvoris, the only real question was when and for how long really. Lavender didn't seem like the type that would enjoy spending time out on the open waters, and Enrick (while capable) wasn't the best caretaker suited for such a role.

"Oi can..." He hesitated and swallowed hard with more consideration. "Yeah. Oi can help sure, just need t' know when and how. And..." He looked from Nalin to Lavender firstly, a sympathetic look in his eyes as they turned cerulean, before he added one final claus to the situation. "If Oi do ten Lav needs t' understand, ain't no fussin' or fightin' on me boat when she's under m' care. What Oi say's what goes an' tat's final." That would be his only condition if he's to help play a role in this, that Lavender understand she listened to him while under his care. He wasn't going to put himself out there, when danger seemed likely no less, if the person he was helping provide shelter sought to rebel against it.

Tough, serious stuff. Nalin speaks so frankly of his disease, and Enrick is so compassionate toward him. They seem like sincerely great friends and I hope Nalin didn't actually perish due to the Ink Bloom, but it was kind of Enrick to offer to take care of Lavender in the worst case.

Excellent use of biqaj eye colors to describe the modes of Enrick's emotional reactions through the course of the thread.

The technique of using Lavender to support Nalin works well for him, to give him additional context in the scene.

Great job the both of you and enjoy your rewards!
